In Scotland last week, hopes for an immediate end to the hideously cruel practice of snaring were dashed.
Our friends in OneKind have given us the very disappointing news that the Scottish Parliament has thrown out a movement to end the barbaric practice of setting snares. The amendment was defeated by 72 votes to 50, due to opposition to a ban from the Scottish National, Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties.
The only ray of hope is that the Scottish Labour Party came out fully in support of a ban, and vowed to act on this if they are in government after the forthcoming Scottish election in May.
