Happy Mother’s Day folks. This is my own dear Mum and me “After a dip at Sidmouth, 1960”. Photo by my dear ol’ Dad, Harold May. Yes – I miss them both terribly.
Treasure your Mums and Dads, folks. Tell them you love them. Get them to talk about your childhood (and theirs) on video. Right now. Ask them all the questions you never asked. Because one day the door will close … and there will be no one to ask.

– Ant and Dec 13 March 2021
A glimpse into my world ! This is what today’s Ant and Dec TV appearance (see my previous post) looked like from our end (last Thursday). Hand-held video capture on my iPhone by supertech Pete Malandrone – with just the sound in the room (well, actually the amp is in an adjacent room with the door almost shut – otherwise it would deafen us all ! That’s why this sound is quite ‘ambient’ – distant) . The actual sound for the programme transmission was recorded up in the studio at the other end of a long wire – by our brilliant Justin Shirley-Smith. You’ll have to imagine the backing track – unless some clever person out there can do a compilation ! Enjoy !
My ‘thump’ at the beginning is a marker – like a clap-board in the movies – so the sound and vision can be exactly synchronised. The shirt ? It’s a team shirt from the NASA New Horizons mission to fly-by Pluto – a precious piece of memorabilia for me.
And … Ant and Dec – thnks for the invite !
