Thanks to all who joined launch of Stereoscopy

|

THANKS to all of you who joined us tonight [last night] for our launch of STEREOSCOPY – the Dawn of 3-D.

I’m gutted the technical folks in the transmission room didn’t manage to show you my stereo of BENNU. In the room I was able to toggle between the mono and the stereo – but someone at the other end wasn’t keeping up, and their separate PowerPoint presentation wasn’t moving. So now I feel embarrassed. See my Stories for what you missed !

BENNU !! They fixed my Stereo of Bennu in last night’s talk – so when you next see our presentation on line (in a month’s time apparently) it will make sense !

Thanks guys !!

For (1) parallel view (2) cross-eyed viewing (3) flat mono !

This is the stereo you DIDN’T see in my talk on line yesterday, introducing Denis Pellerin and our new book : STEREOSCOPY – The Dawn If 3-D.

Well, actually I had to add that this is not so much MY stereo as Claudia Manzoni’s. Usually she finds two views which give us a suitable length baseline and more or less the same illumination. Then I spend hours fixing the shadows that don’t match. But in this case she actually found two views that match EXACTLY in phase – ie – for both exposures the sun was in exactly same position as viewed by a being standing on BENNU. So the shadows all match up and I had NO extra work to do – bliss ! This is probably the first perfect and REAL stereoscopic rendition of this small but perfectly formed member of the Solar System.
