Former “American Idol” finalist Adam Lambert is going on tour. But this will not just be any tour for the young singer. According to a report by ABC News on March 6, Lambert will join classic rock band, Queen, in a North American tour this summer.

Original band members Brian May and Robert [Roger] Taylor made the announcement in an appearance on “Good Morning America” along with Lambert. This will be the fourth time he will be performing with the classic rock band. He told “GMA” that it is a dream come true.

“Queen is one of the quintessential rock bands of all time…they’ve influenced bands for years to come.”

Lambert will be the bands front man, stepping in for the iconic Freddie Mercury who died back in 1991 of complications from AIDS. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lambert talked about how much Mercury inspired him.

“Freddie had so much power and intensity to his voice. I was always a loud singer, so I identified with the way he attacked things. He had such an amazing attack. On the flip side, he could give you something so lyrical and smooth. He had so many different colors, and I’m very inspired by that.”

Adam Lambert first performed with Queen in 2009 on “American Idol’s” season eight finale. Lambert performed the rock band’s classic song “We are The Champions.” They next teamed up in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards and again in 2012, performing across Europe.

The 19-date North American tour kicks off June 19 and is set to wrap up July 20. Queen and Lambert will make their New England stop on July 19 when they perform at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. © brianmay.com
