CARNABY COLLABORATES WITH TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX TO BRING WORLD-FIRST QUEEN-INSPIRED ART INSTALLATION AND IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION TO CARNABY STREET AS BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY IS SET TO ROCK CINEMAS
World-famous Carnaby Street will unveil an exclusive art installation in celebration of the Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises film Bohemian Rhapsody. Hailed as one of the greatest rock songs of all time and topping charts as a best-selling single for over forty years, Freddie Mercury’s lyrics will shine bright on Carnaby Street ahead of the film’s UK release on 24 October. Shaftesbury, the innovative landlord and owners of the Carnaby estate, have collaborated with Twentieth Century Fox on this unprecedented installation.
Illuminating Carnaby Street in London’s West End at the end of October, visitors can expect to be dazzled by giant colourful neon lyrics including Queen’s iconic opening ‘Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?’ along with the playful ‘Galileo’ and ‘Figaro’.
Elsewhere, Queen’s crest – designed by Freddie Mercury himself – will feature on Carnaby’s iconic arches, with a giant illuminated crown topping Carnaby’s shimmer flag.
Bohemian Rhapsody is the untold true story of Queen and Freddie Mercury – a man who believed in himself and his music when no one else did, defying all stereotypes and breaking all the rules to become one of the greatest musical icons of all time. A foot-stomping celebration of Queen’s music and tribute to a man who dared to change everything, the film stars Rami Malek as iconic frontman Freddie Mercury, alongside Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as Brian May and Joe Mazzello as John Deacon.
A free-entry pop up shop and exhibition located at 3 Carnaby Street will open on 10 October. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves into the ultimate Queen experience with a showcase of photographs, prints, footage and show-stopping costumes. The store will also stock official film merchandise and Queen-inspired products. Visitors to the pop-up shop and exhibition can also expect experiential activity including a visit from the official Madame Tussauds’ Freddie Mercury waxwork.

Carnaby Street pays tribute to Queen with new Bohemian Rhapsody display

Lines from arguably the most famous rock song of all time will be celebrated in neon lights on Carnaby Street in October. Lyrics from Queen’s 1975 hit Bohemian Rhapsody, including “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?” will be joined by the band’s crest designed by Freddie Mercury.
The display by landlord Shaftesbury and 20th Century Fox marks the release of film Bohemian Rhapsody, about the band, on October 24. There will be a Queen-inspired exhibition, plus food and products. Bohemian Rhapsody is the UK’s third best selling single of all time, having reached number one upon its initial release in 1976 and again following Mercury’s death in 1991. The forthcoming movie Bohemian Rhapsody stars Rami Malek as Mercury, and is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on October 24. The movie tells the story of the group, following them from their formation in the 1970s, right through to their performance at Live Aid in 1985. Watch the trailer below.
