Rock legends Queen and their Freddie Mercury stand-in Adam Lambert have tacked an additional five concerts onto their summer itinerary, bringing the tour tally to twenty-four shows spread across the U.S. and Canada. The tour, originally scheduled to end on July 20th in Washington D.C., will now run through July 28th, with stops in Boston, East Rutherford, Uncasville, Atlantic City and Toronto added to the mix. Check out the updated list of dates below.

With a few months to go before they hit the road, Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor are currently working overtime assuaging fans’ fears about what a Mercury-free Queen tour will be like. According to May, Lambert will not simply be attempting to ape Freddie’s inimitable style.

“One of the great things about Adam is that he’s never an imitator,” May said. “He finds his own way with the songs and that’s what we all want. We want our music to be alive and dangerous and open to change.”

May thinks Mercury would approve of Queen’s decision to tour with someone who adds his own flavor to the band’s repertoire.

“You know, Freddie, particularly, would hate to have things kind of reproduced the way they were,” May explained. “We take it to a different place. It’s exciting and I don’t think we’d be doing it if we didn’t think we were actually going into new territory and every time we work with Adam, we do that. So I’m very happy.”

But as Roger Taylor points out, they know they can only push the fans so far, because at the end of the day, people just want to hear the hits.

“We’re very aware of what we think people want to hear, and I think after I’ve been to concerts where I haven’t heard exactly what I wanna hear, so we’re gonna try and deliver that as well,” Taylor said. “You know what people would want to hear from a Queen concert, obviously the big hits and try and make it an interesting journey through the hits.”

Tickets for the newly added dates will be on sale beginning Saturday, March 29 at 9am local time through the Live Nation mobile app and at Livenation.com.
