The British rock band Queen is coming to the Antwerp sports palace at the end of this month. After the death of their legendary frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991, Brian May and Roger Taylor did not intend to continue until they discovered the young American singer Adam Lambert. May and Taylor are now 70 and 68 years old and now tour the world as ‘Queen plus Adam Lambert’.

The remaining members of Queen tour Europe with the same music, but with a different singer. They discovered the young American talent when he auditioned for American Idol with a Queen song.

Gift

“We were not actually looking for someone”, they (Brian May) said. “But then this gift from God suddenly came our way and he could do everything we needed to bring out our music.”

Adam Lambert brings his own version of the Queen songs, although it is sometimes difficult not to imitate Freddie Mercury. “I cannot ignore it either. It is dancing on a soft rope “, says the singer.

Last tour?

Whether it is the last Queen tour, May and Taylor cannot say. (Roger Taylor) “You never know if it’s the last one, but as long as we can do it, we’ll do it, thank God.” Queen and Adam Lambert will be at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp on June 29th.
