A 3-D flip music video

|

This is a kind of 3-D flicker music video.

This clip is of interest from a 3-D – stereoscopic – point of view. I’d be interested to hear what you guys think of it, from this point of view.

IT features that kind of Flicker- jiggle kind of attempt at portraying a stereo effect on a mono screen, without glasses.

Essentially what they do is cut quite fast between left and right views. So it’s like you were shutting one eye and then the other, back and forth, the whole time, and trying to get your brain to interpret the changes due to parallax as DEPTH – as a solid picture in space, like a stereoscopic image.

This has been done a lot with still pictures – and of course if you have only one eye operative, it’s the only way to view in stereo that’s on offer.

In this case they’ve done it with moving images – something I haven’t seen before. So basically you are looking at a stereo movie chopped up into sequential left and right images.

I have to say I found it a bit headache-y – but I’d say it’s well done of its kind, apart fro being very original. The choice of shots for this effect is very clever .. lots of foreground, views down ‘tunnel’ – type landscapes, and people surrounded by stuff with lots of depth and complexity.

The music isn’t bad, either ! I don’t know this singer, and I didn’t understand a word, but I found the whole effect quite hypnotic. Thanks Paola !
